Donate Stock
When donating stocks, bonds, or mutual funds to support Beyond the Bars, you avoid paying capital gains tax if donating stock held longer than one year and are eligible to receive a charitable contribution deduction equal to the mean value of the stock the day it is transferred.

Cy Pres Awards
For some class action cases, judgment funds remain after all class members have received payment on their claims. The court can award the unclaimed remaining money as a Cy Pres Award to a charitable organization that reflects the intent of the lawsuit.As a Florida based charitable organization, Beyond the Bars is eligible to be nominated for cy pres funds. Awards of cy pres allow Beyond the Bars to advance criminal justice reform and justice for low-wage workers.
Procedure:
When it is time to designate a residual funds recipient, please include the Beyond the Bars as a Cy Pres awardee in your settlement documents. Beyond the Bars has IRS designation as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and will forward to you any information the court may request.
